Your calendar is full of brilliant moments to engage your community – but something is missing.
At Social-Ability, we work with libraries to add simple sensory and interactive elements to the events you’re already planning, helping you create engaging experiences without adding lots of extra prep.
Here are just a few ideas we’ve been exploring with library teams recently:
July: Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge is all about encouraging children to engage with stories in different ways — whether that’s physical books, audiobooks, eBooks, or shared reading experiences.
Using the projector, libraries can host immersive story sessions that bring stories to life through projected environments, movement, and sensory play. These sessions can be counted as a completed “read” within the challenge, helping children engage with books in a way that feels exciting, accessible, and social while still contributing towards their reading milestones and rewards.
September: National Multi-Sensory Storytelling Day
Bring story sacks and board books to life with immersive projected environments. Imagine seaside stories with rippling water projected onto the floor, or woodland tales with animated autumn leaves creating the setting around children as they play and explore.
We can also support storytelling sessions using our audiobook resource, Storynory, helping children experience stories in a more immersive, sensory way.
November: Explore Your Archive Week
We can work with your archive team to bring historic images from your collections to life through interactive light projection technology. This can then form the centrepiece of an intergenerational event, for example, bringing together local school children and care home residents to explore local history, spark conversation, and share memories.
